Student journalists, Alfred Panes and Yvan Limson interviewed Emily Santos, Officer-in-Charge of Barangka High School at Barangay Barangka in the first district of Marikina City.
Her office is located in a corner with a table and two chairs. She said that it is her temporary office while the construction is still ongoing.
While being interviewed, Santos was asked what other needs of the school they want to address the Congressman and she answered, “I cannot think of any other things anymore. Congressman provides everything that we need. He provides things even before we ask him.”

Marcy puts up schools in different barangays to make education more accessible to everybody.
Aizaleen Marcelo, Officer-in-Charge, Barangka Elementary School, said, “Congressman Marcy is really kind. He puts public schools’ needs in his priority because he is a product of one.”
Marcelo adds that if she could ask for one more thing as a public school teacher, it would have to be additional health benefits for them.

Pictured here is Pia De Guzman, a mother of elementary and high school students at Barangka Elementary School and Barangka High School respectively.
While waiting for her children, she shares that she hopes for the computer education to push through because she believes that it is not enough to stick to the conventional way of teaching. She added that children also need to be trained to be computer literate to cope with the technologies in this changing world. However, she is happy that many schools and buildings are being built.
But she laments that, “It is hard for the children because they cannot use the comfort rooms since there is no water yet.”
She also adds that the projects of the governor are very visible and that they are felt by the citizens like her.
